James
Senior Analyst, ISR & Strategy
Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance architectures across the European theatre.
James leads the firm's ISR & Strategy practice. His expertise centres on the architectural integration of multi-domain ISR capabilities—from space-based imagery and SIGINT through airborne and maritime platforms down to tactical edge sensors—and on the doctrinal and operational implications of those choices for national and coalition forces.
His earlier career included senior operational and analytical roles within a NATO partner force, with deployments and exchange postings across Europe. Following his transition to the private sector, he advised governments on long-term ISR capability planning, contributing to several national reviews of intelligence architecture and providing independent counsel on signals collection, fusion-cell design, and multi-source analytical workflows.
At Aethelgard, James helps clients translate strategic objectives into deliverable ISR architectures: which capabilities to acquire, which to share with allies, which to outsource to commercial providers, and—critically—where the seams between those choices create exploitable gaps.
He retains current security clearances at the appropriate national and NATO levels and publishes occasionally on multi-domain integration under non-attribution conventions.
